YRB Vanderhoof

Yellowhead Road & Bridge (Vanderhoof) Ltd. was formed in 1988 in response to British Columbia’s Ministry of Transportation initiative to privatize provincial highway and bridge maintenance program. The company commenced maintenance of the Nechako Contract Area (Service Area #23), on October 28, 1988. One of three original YRB companies (YRB (Prince George) and YRB (Robson) being the others), YRB (Vanderhoof) has successfully won the Nechako Contract Area highway maintenance contract each time it has been re-tendered (1991, 1996 and most recently in 2004). Our current contract was renewed on May 03, 2004 and is 10 years in duration, expiring on May 02, 2014.

As with all other YRB companies, Yellowhead Road & Bridge (Vanderhoof) Ltd. is 100% employee-owned. All the employee-owners take great pride in the work they do maintaining highways and bridges in the locale where they and their families live. The Nechako Contract Area contains the main towns of Vanderhoof, Fort St. James and Fraser Lake, as well as the communities of Fort Fraser and Endako. YRB (Vanderhoof) has a maintenance establishment in Vanderhoof, Fort St. James and Fraser Lake. The contract area boundaries are located, approximately, at Bednesti Lake on Highway 16 to the east, the top of Priestly Hill on Highway 16 to the west, Kenney Dam to the south, and 106 kms north of Fort St. James on the Germansen road to the north. This contract area contains approximately 1,500 kms of road, including the main highways, 16 and 27, as well as 45 bridges.
