Yellowhead Road & Bridge ( North Peace) Ltd. was formed in 1996 after winning the contract to maintain the highways and bridges in the North Peace Contract Area (Service Area #22). YRB (North Peace) was successful in retaining the maintenance contract re-tendered in 2004. Our current contract was renewed on May 17, 2004, extended in 2012, and will expire May 31, 2019.
As with all other YRB companies, Yellowhead Road & Bridge (North Peace) Ltd. is 100% employee-owned. All employee-owners take great pride in the work they do maintaining highways and bridges in the locale where they and their families live.
The North Peace contract area contains the main city of Fort St. John, as well as the Village of Fort Nelson and the municipality of Hudson’s Hope. YRB (North Peace) Ltd. has maintenance establishments in Fort St. John, Hudson’s Hope, Rose Prairie, Cecil Lake and Fort Nelson as well as minor facilities in Clayhurst and Buick Creek. The contract area boundaries are generally the north shore of the Peace River (the Clayhurst Bridge is not in the contract area), and specifically the south end of the Taylor Bridge on Highway 97 to the south, the Northwest Territories border on Highway 77 to the north, the Alberta border to the east and the south end of the Hudson Hope Bridge on Highway 29 to the west. A unique feature of this contract is that the bulk of the Alaska Highway (north of km 133 except for the 6 km portion of arterial highway through Fort Nelson) is now maintained under a separate contract between another contractor and Public Works and Government Services Canada. The North Peace contract area consists of approximately 3,500 kms of road, including Highways 29, 77 and 97, as well as 76 bridges.
